Definition: Mid cap are usually medium sized companies that have a market capitalization of $1 to $5 or even $10 billion, depending on who is giving you the definition. These companies generally do well in the early parts of an econonomic recovery, when interest rates are low and they have easy access to funds to invest into their growth.
Also Known As: Mid Capitalization Stocks
Examples:
Mid caps are less risky than small caps, but riskier than large caps.
