Trade Promotion Authority

Definition: The President's Trade Promotion Authority gives the President the ability to negotiate trade agreements more efficiently. It is due to expire on June 30, 2007. With it, Congress can only vote yes or no on an entire trade agreement.
Also Known As: Fast Track
Examples:
An important piece of the FY 2008 budget is to renew the President's Trade Promotion Authority.
