What is Congress, and How Does It Affect the U.S. Economy?

Saturday February 24, 2007
The primary duty of Congress is to write, debate, and pass bills, (formally introduced legislation).

Some of the most important ways Congress affects the economy is in their control of the Federal budget, framing foreign policy and trade, and in their control over the military. This power is shared with the Executive Branch, or President.

Hi Jenny,

That is an excellent point. To find out more about what Congress is, click on the hotlink in the word “Congress”. It will take you to an article that describes more completely exactly what Congress is.

Please let me know if that doesn’t answer your question.

Kimberly
