U.S. Democratic Presidential Candidate Barack Obama selected Senator Joe Biden as his Vice-Presidential nominee yesterday. Biden strengthens Obama's economic platform, in that he is an experienced advocate of a balanced budget, which Obama mentions but doesn't really address in detail. Biden also proposes regulating commodities speculation, which is one of the biggest causes of high gas prices. Obama's economic platform is great on long-term proposals only.

Unfortunately, Biden has become as protectionist as Obama, seeking to renegotiate NAFTA. He has also voted against CAFTA and other recent free trade agreements. This stance jeopardizes U.S. exports, which have been strengthening and could lead the U.S. economy out of its current slump. Read more on Senator Joe Biden's View on the Economy.
